Surely, there is little doubt white can win. Bill Gates is letting us down. I have asked the micro soft zone master for the ability to set up positions and to take moves back. I also asked for a colored board and checkers and a downloadable log. He agrees these are desirable features and said he would pass these on to the appropriate technicians. But, so far no cigars! (A) I believe this is the first time I have played against this since my GAYP title match with Deo in 1981. Were these games ever published and if so, where? See below from Carl Reno. (B) This is not given in Courtney's Souter and atuck and Carl Reno both say it is an improvement. I wonder if I used this order of moves against Deo? no, see below. (C) Only analysis would determine if the King best belongs on 19, 20 or 28. (D) My game with Deo has long ago washed away, but he may have put the King on 16. I seem to recall Deo drew this I think by a little 2 by 2 ending he called the Kirkwood Position. (E) Ah, at last, I get control of this key square. After this, it seems only a matter of time. I feel there is a clean draw in this ending perhaps by more than one route, but Red needs care. I always get good practice with atuck who is a very fine venturesome player and loves good cross board play which I sorely need.

Cornell rates this position as white strong for whatever that is worth. Alex or rusms ( which stands for Russion Master and is his zone nickname) has more talent in his little finger than the rest of us have in our whole body. It is always a thrill to play with him for me and wonderful practice.
